ABOUT
I’m Rosana Ward, a SoCal based artist. I'm both a teacher and student of painting, because I believe that those who teach, learn twice. Aside from oil painting and watercolors, I also studied the art of ceramics and figure drawing. I always strive to learn new things, reach new heights, and unlock my potential.

"Passion without reason cannot exist." -Rosana Ward

In my paintings, I enjoy experimenting with a variety of mediums. I often combine oils with acrylics for the base layers, which helps me achieve the desired light and dark tones. For more abstract pieces, I love using the "ala prima" technique. When working on canvas or wood panel, I also like to incorporate the "Desiderio" technique, which adds a unique dimension to my artwork.

In addition to these styles, I love exploring watercolors on both paper and Yupo paper, using various techniques to create different effects. Portraits, especially of people and animals, hold a special place in my heart. I believe that the eyes truly capture the essence of a person or animal's soul, so I always make sure to focus on them when painting portraits.

I find great inspiration in nature and often paint landscapes from life, drawing upon my travel experiences. Currently, I am also enjoying making reproductions of my artwork and creating greeting cards.
